It's been ages, but I thought that I should definitely come in here and post. There isn't too much to say, but I thought I'd let everyone know that I'm still alive.
Lately, I've been dealing with some minor health concerns. I had a wapper of a cold recently, as you may remember from my voice post. Because of it, I chose to temporarily stop my hospice visits until just two days ago, so I wouldn't run the risk of spreading germs to the patients I visit. But, more frustrating than the cold is my sleep schedule. Lately, I just can't sleep through the night, and I'm always tired in the middle of the day. I just started up on my CPAP again for Sleep Apnia. I hadn't used it in a while, but now, I'm back on it. I just thought it would stop me from waking up at 4:00 every morning, but no luck! I even take Melatonin, but that hasn't helped much either. So, I'll keep you posted. But, the good news is that I went to the Dietician this week, and lost Two LBS. Yay!
In other news, I'm still waiting for my job posibility to come through. The latest is that they say that they will hire me once business picks up. So, although I'm thinking that this will happen, I'm still looking at other posibilities.
And, although I usually don't want to bore my friends with my radio obcession, I do feel it necessary to comment on some sad Milwaukee Radio news. While these are business decisions that make financial sense, the decisions are very hard emotionally. Both this week and next, an AM and FM station in our market will be changing owners and formats. These two stations are owned by Salem Communications, which runns Christian Radio Stations. The AM station is AM 540 WRRD The Word which is a Christian talk and ministry station. This week, a company called Good Karma Broadcasting will take it over and move ESPN 1510 to the 540 frequecy. That means that the Christian station will go all sports. It is unknown yet what will happen with 1510, but the reason this was done is that the 1510 licence is a day time only station. Now, with them moving over to 540, they can be on 24 hours a day 7 days a week. And thankfully, many of the 540 programs will turn up at our other Christian station Joy 1340. But, it is sad to see 540, which has always had some type of Christian programming, be gone. They have also, throughout the years, had cultural programs as well. They were the first station I ever heard on the radio as a kid listening to polka and German music programs. It is just sad to see this era in Milwaukee radio end. However, even sader regards the other station Salem owns in Milwaukee. It is a contemporary Christian music station called 105.3 The Fish. Next week, I guess the day after Valentine's Day, a company called EMF Broadcasting will be taking it over. Thankfully, this company runs a Christian Music format similar to The Fish, but it will no longer be a locally run station. The new station is called K Love. You can hear their stream on their site, which is exactly what all the K Love Stations are getting all around the country. So, a lot of local people will be looking for new jobs, and there won't be a local station to promote Christian concerts and events. I did talk to the Fish's Program Director and morning host yesterday, who seems to be in good spirits cnsidering everything. He said that he will just wait to see what God has in store for him. So, the next two weeks will be hard, as we watch these two stations become just fond memories.
And, thinking about that AM station going All Sports, I won't be listening to them tomorrow as they talk all about the Superbowl! I'll probably reluctantly watch the game, but that Packer loss was a hard one to swallow! I guess we'll have to wait till next year!
But, before I watch the Superbowl, I will get to enjoy my Christmas present. This Christmas, my Mom bought two tickets for she and myself to see The Lion King. I can't wait to see it, but the sad thing is that this week, my Mom got a pinched nerve in her thy, so she can hardly move. She thinks she got it when she picked up my nephew, Jacob, while babysitting. So, I really feel bad that she will have to miss it, as she was really looking forward to going. But, my older sister, Katie, will take me in her place. It should really be fun, and I will definitely let everyone know what I think of it.
So, I hope all is well with my LJ Friends, and I'll type more later. Take care.
